Educational Consultant & Tutor
Kim works with students in reading, writing, and dyslexia. She uses explicit, direct instructional practices to achieve positive outcomes.

The training I have received and teaching I have done spans many subjects and decades. I began my career in Galveston ISD in the
mid 1980s. Since then, I have worked in Austin ISD, Leander ISD, and Jarrell ISD. For many years, my experience was focused on middle school skill development, primarily in reading and writing. Now, however, I am expanding and enhancing my teaching skills as a reading interventionist for students in grades K-5 on a wonderful elementary campus.
Ensuring that each person I work with feels comfortable and successful is key for my approach to teaching. In addition to emotional well-being, I want to provide the support required to move the learner into an area of academic success that can be transferred from the tutoring session to the classroom.

After 31 years of service in education, I retired and began independent work as an educational consultant. For 21 years, I taught middle school (6th-8th grade). I worked mostly with struggling learners in reading and writing. For several years, I also taught Teen Leadership and AVID. Following my time in the classroom, I was given the opportunity to become an Education Specialist with a focus on explicit instruction, literacy, and MTSS/RtI at Education Service Center Region 13.
It is my pleasure to help students meet their greatest potential. As a private tutor, I strive to provide balanced, effective opportunities through which students develop skills and confidence to move forward on their academic journeys.
